Perfect for our play kitchen!
I love these! They go perfect in my toddler's play kitchen and we like the fact that they are wood. The only downside with the wood as my Pitbull is drawn to chewing on them, she's usually not a chewer but there's something about these that she just loves so be careful pet owners! They included a great variety of the food groups and the wood is very solid and they do not feel cheap like the plastic fruit they have at our local museum play kitchen.

Just Right and worth the price!
I bought these for my 6 year old. I was a little nervous about what they would look like upon arrival. They are a decent size. I would say they are actually perfect of 8 year olds and down in regard to sizing. The crates are adorable. I saw a similar product at Target for $20 and I got these for $12 on here so I'm definitely pleased! I recommended these to my co-worker for her girls! Photo added to show size of food products in an adult hand.

Wooden, no plastic issues to worry about
I saw a lot of reviews that the plastic food items had issues of being crushed, breaking, and even getting mold. These are solid wood, painted really well, and are great for playing in our child's little kitchen. The four little trays that come with them are also made of glued wood. I think I may throw them out, last night I stepped on one and it broke. Not a design flaw, I'm a big dude, just hurt a bit and made a sharp object. I do not think my almost two year old could come anywhere near breaking anything in this package. I highly recommend these.

Cute and adorable!
This set is so cute and adorable. I love the 4 little sturdy wooden boxes to sort all the food into the 4 food groups. The fish is extremely cute and by far my favorite piece. My 16 mo old granddaughter also has a set and loves them, and they withstand her roughness. Very happy with this purchase and would recommend it. The only drawback is that the 2 pieces of bread are sized pretty small, but it doesn't really detract from the whole set.

I have two kids who are destroyers of all things nice! Honestly companies should be doing product testing with my kids. If it can break, they will figure out a way…believe me! We have and this set now for years, along with numbers other food and kitchen sets. They are the last ones standing. Paint is in near perfect condition…where there aren't teeth marks. And, really, what else could go wrong with blocks of wood made to look like food! Skip the plastic and paper sets, and do yourself a favor and order this set and the Melissa and Doug Fridge Food set. You will have more than enough food for the kids to cook with and they will last literally until you give them away. **Yes I posted this exact same review on the other set, they are that good. In fact, even the little basket that come with this set survived years of abuse!**

Grammy's Little Darlings are Going to Cook Up a Storm and Have Fun
Our grandkids love to "cook" for Poppy and me. Years ago we had purchased a cheap set of boxed foods, plastic chicken and egg, pots, pans and plates for them to play with. Needless to say, those toys have seen better days. I found this set of food groups online and decided to give them a try. When I opened the box I was so surprised...the quality, thought and care put into these toys is amazing. Each piece of food, including the little boxes are solid wood. They are NOT made in China, they are non-toxic paint and will help the kids not only play, but learn the various foods groups as they do. I couldn't be happier with my purchase of Melissa & Doug Food Groups.

Cute design and made to last
I bought this set of food for my granddaughter to go along with a play kitchen that I got on amazon at the same time. The set arrived on time and was exactly as shown. The set is good quality and sturdy so it will last for a long time. It is much better than the plastic and cardboard sets that she had previously. Its only a matter of time before the toys end up in the mouths of small children so these are great because they don't get chewed up like the cardboard and plastic ones do. I saw previous reviews where it was said that the food didn't look much like real food but I didn't find that nor did my granddaughter. I thought it was all cute and easily identifiable as what it was. It certainly didn't make any difference to her. I also really liked the small wooded trays that the food comes in. She keeps them in her kitchen set with her food stored in them and they've held together as well even after being used extensively. I also noticed some of the paint had come off but it looks more like it wore off with a lot of use rather than chipping off like other reviewers had noted. Overall, I think this is a big improvement over plastic and cardboard food and the style is very adorable. Its solid and will last for years. I'd highly recommend it!!

Great Play Value
My one year old granddaughter loves her "play food", though at her age she mostly chews on them. Picking up them up and placing them in one of the wooden crates helps her to develop hand control, and we're practicing the names with her. She already recognizes some of the food names. For instance, we'll say, pick up the banana, and she finds it and chews on it. It's so realistic looking that she is probably frustrated that it doesn't taste like banana! I like the crates that are included, as they can be used to sort the food as well as store them. The main problem when the granddaughters visit my house is that the foods are all over my floor ! I like the fact that they're wooden rather than plastic, as they will last for years and no doubt be passed along to other toddlers when my granddaughters have outgrown them.

Love, love
Love, love, love! More than half of our toys are Melissa and Doug branded and these are a perfect addition to our play kitchen. The crates are perfect!! I mainly ordered this set for the crates and meat and dairy accessories, as I far prefer the plastic Melissa and Doug fruits and veggies. They are much larger and more durable but having the extra wooden ones are a bonus. Well worth it!! You won't be disappointed!

Love this food set!
We just got our toddler a play kitchen and this food set is the perfect addition. I love it because so many other food sets are either cheap plastic that look terrible and are destroyed easily, OR they include things like pretend cookies, candy, etc, which...ok, we do give him cookies once in awhile, but if he's playing, I'd rather encourage healthy food choices. This set has the perfect balance of food groups and includes healthy food, plus it's all sturdy enough to handle being played with by an active toddler. Our son loves the variety!
